Vision

Weekly wisdom to level up your creative life in 3 minutes, for free.

Happy Wednesday!

Here’s a short story, a creative tool, and a piece of art to inspire you this week.

A SHORT STORY

Prospect Park, 2024

This past Saturday, I proposed to my girlfriend.

For me, this is a day I’ve dreamt of since I was a kid. And as the moment approached, I realized that preparing for it was a kind of practice.

In many ways, I had to ask myself, “How do I become a person who is ready for marriage?”

In fact, any time in my life when I’ve managed to turn a vision into reality, the vision wasn’t just a plan but a practice. Essentially, I asked myself, “How do I become the person who inhabits that vision?”

In other words, what matters isn’t just having a vision but making a habit of revisiting and refining that vision. For the big things in my life (like a proposal), I realize that I keep coming back to them week after week—sometimes day after day.

The sharper and clearer the goal, the sharper the aim—and as time passes, the dream becomes more real.

So, this Saturday, when I finally got down on one knee and proposed, my vision became a reality.

She said, yes.

What are you currently envisioning? What small, consistent actions can you take daily to transform your long-term vision into reality?

A CREATIVE TOOL

I often turn to artists to help me find language around emerging technologies. This past week, I listened to Holly Herndon’s interview on the Ezra Klein podcast and was inspired by her thoughts around collective intelligence.

A PIECE OF ART

“The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.
They're in each other all along.”
